This landscape design and implementation was very challenging because the entire front yard was under a huge oak tree. This tree had it's roots all through the yard so it was really impossible to plant directly in the soil. Additionally, the entire yard was in shade so the plant varieties were limited. I solved the planting problem by adding mounds of soil so the plants could be added without disturbing the roots. I was also able to get a great palette of plants that had different textures, foliage colors and flowers to make a beautiful, low-maintenance design.
